On April 26, 2008 Saturday afternoon the Cleveland
Contemporary Chinese Culture dance students performed at
John Carroll University for the American Cancer Society "Relay
For Life".
Relay For Life. It's all about HOPE.
The American Cancer Society Relay For Life represents our
hope that those lost to cancer will never be forgotten, that
those who face cancer will be supported, and that one day
cancer will be eliminated.
The Relay For Life is an 18-hour overnight event in which
teams of 10-15 people take turns walking around a track,
symbolic of the fact that cancer never sleeps. The event
takes on a carnival-type atmosphere with food, fun, live
performers, games, and music, while also pausing to remember
those we've lost and honor those who have survived the
disease. All proceeds from the event benefit the American
Cancer Society's research, education, advocacy, and service
programs.
The students presented six dances: Entering Tibet, Kang
Ding Love Song, Alamuhan, When the Grapes Are Ripe, Fan
Dance (Spring River and Flowers under the Moon Night Light
春江花月夜) ,
and the Mongolian Horsey Dance. Their wonderful
performance, colorful costumes, and beautiful Chinese
traditional music attracted a large audience, who showed
their appreciation with an outpouring of applause . The students are
very proud of having been part of the Relay For Life.
